“I saw the film with an audience for the first time about three days ago. I sat next to two people who were sitting through the film for the second time. They engage me in a conversation about the film telling me how much they enjoyed it and what it was all about. I asked them a few questions about specifics of why they enjoyed it so much. After the film was over, they had asked me why I had left during the middle of it and they didn’t recognize me at all. I’ve never been recognized.”
—Harrison Ford (Star Wars interview from 1977)
With these changes George Lucas made to the original Star Wars trilogy, children possibly ten years from now will end up growing up watching those and think that those were the original versions.
I’m not saying these changes are terrible but I’d prefer to have my children watch the original ones. I’ll make sure my VHS still works and then show them how I watched it when I was little.
and they’ll grow to love them.
they will
I’ll make sure of it
